Registering with the surgery
To register with the surgery:
- Please follow the link to register with Wargrave surgery: Register with a GP surgery
- Please continue to read all the contents of this page prior to starting the registration process as there are vital details that you will need to know prior to registering.
When you register, it’s helpful to have your NHS number. You can use the NHS website to find your NHS number.
We recommend registering at the surgery as soon as possible, as we are not able to guarantee you will be able to see a clinician on your day of registration. All new patients are entitled to book a new patient health check if they wish.
If you take regular medications as a newly registered patient your usual repeat medication will no longer be available to order on your online account; this is standard practice. Before being able to order these you will need to arrange a telephone call with our clinical pharmacist to discuss these. Please ensure that you have ordered adequate medication from your current practice prior to registering with Wargrave surgery.
All patients are allocated a named GP, you will be advised who this is at the time of registering. If you wish to know who your named GP is, please contact reception. This does not affect your right to choose which GP you wish to see.
A guide to GP services
The Royal College of general practitioners has produced a useful guide for patients about the services on offer at GP surgeries and how to access them.
Temporary registration
If you are ill while away from home or if you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one you can receive emergency treatment from the local GP practice for 14 days. After 14 days you will need to register as a temporary or permanent patient.
You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local practice and still remain a patient of your permanent GP.
To register as a temporary patient simply contact the local practice you wish to use. Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although they do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment. You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered.
