New Patient Registration

Register with Wargrave Surgery as a new patient

How to register

Check you live within the boundary area

To access our registration process, first check you are in our catchment area. If you have any questions about your eligibilty join this surgery please contact us.

We recommend registering at the surgery as soon as possible, as we are not able to guarantee you will be able to see a clinician on your day of registration. All new patients are entitled to book a new patient health check if they wish.

If you take regular medications as a newly registered patient your usual repeat medication will no longer be available to order on your online account; this is standard practice. Before being able to order these you will need to arrange a telephone call with our clinical pharmacist to discuss these. Please ensure that you have ordered adequate medication from your current practice prior to registering with Wargrave Surgery.

Temporary services

If you are ill while away from home or if you are not registered with a Doctor but need to see one, you can receive emergency treatment from the local GP Practice for 14 days. After 14 days you will need to register as a temporary or permanent patient.

You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local Practice list and still remain a patient of your permanent GP. After three months you will have to re-register as a temporary patient or permanently register with that Practice.

To register as a temporary patient simply contact the practice you wish to use. Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although they do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment. You cannot register as a temporary patient at a Practice in the town or area where you are already registered.

Your named GP

We assign all new and existing patients with a named accountable GP to oversee their care.

For patients aged 75 and over, the named accountable GP is responsible for:

  • working with health and social care professionals to deliver a care package that meets the needs of the patient
  • ensuring that these patients have access to a health check

Patients can still choose to see any GP in the surgery. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate their preference.

If you have a preference or want to know who your named GP is, you can contact us for more information.
