Meningococcal B (Men B) Vaccination Update
We know many of you have been in touch recently with understandable worries following the meningitis outbreak in Kent. Your health and peace of mind are incredibly important to us, so we want to share the most up‑to‑date information available to primary care. We will continue to keep you informed as guidance evolves.
About the Men B Vaccine
If you were born before September 2015, it’s very unlikely you received the Men B vaccine as part of the routine NHS childhood schedule (unless you had it privately). Please don’t feel alarmed — you can still choose to have the vaccine if you would like this added protection.
While the Men B vaccine is not currently offered on the NHS for older children or adults, many local pharmacies are able to provide it privately and will be happy to guide you through your options with care and clarity.
For parents of younger children, detailed information about the infant Men B vaccination is available in the “Red Book”, which lists all vaccines your child has received and when.
